PETITION FOR CANCER VICTIM "EI" SUPPORT
Zosia Ettenberg has created a petition, to be tabled in the Canadian Federal House of Commons by MP Mark Warawa. A copy of the petition is available to be downloaded ( https://webmail.shaw.ca/attach/Petition%20for%20Extended%20EI%20Benefits%20Final.doc?sid=&mbox=INBOX&charset=escaped_unicode&uid=4163&number=4&filename=Petition%20for%20Extended%20EI%20Benefits%20Final.doc ), signed and sent to Zosia@telus.net
There is also a copy on the final page of the BCS web site.
According to the BCS executive, this seems to fall within the goals of Steve Lord and the Bury Cancer Society, so we have decided to publish this in the site.
Please note, this is for our Canadian friends only. (An American signature may invalidate a complete sheet of signatures)

The Relay for Life was a huge success. Both for our team and for the Cancer Society as a whole. This was a tremendous showing of love for Steve and his cause. Lots of time to talk, remember, and express our gratitude for having Steve in our lives.
I don't speak for anyone else, but I (Bill) was dog tired for a couple of days later.
We all know the effort and dedication it takes to fulfill this obligation and want to thank everyone involved. Special thanks go to Nandi and Tracy of BCS for organizing and fundraising.
There are photos on the web site of different times in the event. (recent pics)
Thanks again from the Bury Cancer Society executive.

TAKEN FROM AN EMAIL- CANDI (STEVE'S SISTER)
"I love the idea that this beautiful memory could last forever. I love that special friends like you all want to remember him just as we do. We appreciate your strength and your determination to do something for a cure for cancer and hopefully, with your help and everyone else we'll be able to help fathers who are diagnosed with cancer feel hopeful that they will be able to see their grandchildren and pursue their dreams."...
Thank you for all that you did and have done and no doubt will continue to do in remembrance of my special brother. THANK YOU. Candi

This web site will introduce a new page called "DID YOU KNOW". The purpose is to create a dialogue about cancer causing and cancer prevention, and environmental information. Things that "us ordinary" people hear about, know about, have questions about, and want to share.
FEBRUARY, 2008
Tracy Hanlon, President of THE BURY CANCER SOCIETY, has enrolled the society in the Canadian Cancer Society "RELAY FOR LIFE".
Langley is one of the most energetic participants in the "Relay for Life", showing a per capita effort that is one of the best in Canada.
The relay will be at McLeod Athletic Park May 23. Anyone wanting more information or to sign up as a team can call 604-533-0822 or go to www.cancer.ca/relay.
About 27 per cent of the cancer society's funds in Langley go to research while seven per cent covers administration. The rest goes for prevention, advocacy, support to patients, fundraising and lodge operations.
Please join us for this worthy cause, and a chance to gather with friends once more, and pay respect to Steve Lord and his life.
Shirts and wristbands will be available on site, or in advance by contacting members of THE BURY CANCER SOCIETY.

NOVEMBER 5, 2007 -
IT IS WITH GREAT SADDNESS WE ANNOUNCE THE PASSING OF STEVE LORD OVER THE PAST WEEKEND.
We all offer our deepest condolences to Steve's loving family.
This group of people truly define the word "FAMILY". From the diverse personalities of the Lord family children, to the strength and support they get from Mom and Dad, and the love they have for each other, they are an inspiration to everyone who meets them.
One can easily see where Steve drew for his strength of character and determination.
DECEMBER 11, 2007
The Lord Family and THE BURY CANCER SOCIETY would like to wish everyone
"a safe and happy holiday season,
and best wishes for the coming year."

The PUB NIGHT get together (Dec.5) at SAM'Z PUB was a wonderful success. With so many of Steve's family, friends, work associates, and acquaintances taking the time to remember what a great guy Steve was, and how he touched each of our lives. There were photo posters of Steve, his family, and friends to reinforce those memories. The evening also served as a successful fundraiser. The BURY CANCER SOCIETY and Steve's family would like to thank everyone who came out to reflect on the life of a good friend, and show support for each other.
We would also like to say a special thanks to Jay and Masami for their work putting things together.
And to SAM'Z PUB, the owner and staff for allowing us to steamroller over a good portion of their bar for our activities. SAM'Z did a wonderful job for us and we appreciate their kindness.
Once again, thank you everyone,
THE BURY CANCER SOCIETY

Our thanks to Tara and the complete staff of Fitness Unlimited for their patience and support.
THE BURY CANCER SOCIETY
STEVE LORD DAY- Oct.13- was a huge success. Steve was there a couple of times through the day and we all had a ton of fun.
The proceeds from the sale of merchandise will go to cancer victims, survivors and their families to support them as designated by the society directors.
Thank you everyone for your donations, contirbutions and participation. A special "shout out" to Nandi's daughter Luca (sp?) for her help and enthusiasm.
